L’etichetta Avid presenta un nuovo volume della sua collana Five Classic Albums dedicato a Dakota Staton. Questo doppio cd, completo di grafiche e note di copertina originali, include gli album: “Late Late Show”, “Dynamic!”, “More Than The Most”, “Crazy He Calls Me” e “Time To Swing”. Nata a Pittsburgh in Pennnsylvania, Dakota Staton frequentò la celebre George Westinghouse High School (tra i cui banchi è transitato anche il grande pianista Ahmad Jamal, probabilmente nello stesso periodo), in seguito studiò musica prima di debuttare sulla scena seguendo la dura e faticosa strada dei night club. Da giovanissima iniziò a viaggiare per il Paese esibendosi nei club di Detroit, Indianapolis, Cleveland, St. Louis fino ad arrivare ad Harlem a New York, dove fu scoperta dal produttore della Capitol Dave Cavanaugh che subito la fece firmare un contratto per la sua etichetta.
