L’album “Jazz Giants ’58” rappresenta l’unica registrazione in studio di Stan Getz, Gerry Mulligan e Harry “Sweets” Edison. Grazie alla popolarità dei concerti e degli album Jazz at the Philharmonic, il produttore Norman Granz aveva molti dei più grandi artisti jazz sotto contratto durante i primi anni Cinquanta. Approfittando di questo, ha cominciato ad organizzare sessioni di registrazioni che riunivano molti di questi artisti sullo stesso LP, come per l’appunto “Jazz Giants ’58”. I tre solisti sono affiancati in questo album da Oscar Peterson al piano, Herb Ellis alla chitarra, RAY Brown al contrabbasso e Louie Bellson alla batteria. Come bonus sono stati aggiunti due lunghi brani da una sessione in studio del 1953 che comprendeva anche Getz e Edison.
