Questo doppio cd, completo di grafiche e note di copertina originali, include gli album: “The Opener”; “New Trombone”; “Blues-ette” e “Soul Trombone”. Curtis Fuller è cresciuto in un orfanotrofio a Detroit e in quella città ha conosciuto altri giovani musicisti jazz come Paul Chambers e Donald Byrd. Le registrazioni qui proposte vanno dal 1957 al 1961 e vedono tra i musicisti coinvolti: Hank Mobley, Paul Chambers, Bobby Timmons, Art Taylor, Hank Jones, Doug Watkins, Louis Hayes, Benny Golson, Tommy Flanagan, Jimmy Garrison, Freddie Hubbard, Cedar Walton e Jimmy Heath.
