Nato a New York e cresciuto a Brooklyn, Duke Jordan (1922-2006) è stato un fantasioso e talentuoso pianista, membro regolare del Charlie Parker Quintet alla fine degli anni Quaranta insieme a Miles Davis. Jordan ha avuto una lunga carriera solista dalla metà degli anni Cinquanta in poi, anche se dal 1963 al 1973 non è entrato in studio di registrazione. Questo CD riunisce tutta la sua produzione in trio dall’inizio della sua carriera fino al suddetto iato nel 1962. Al suo fianco ci sono musicisti straordinari come Gene Ramey, Percy Heath, Art Blakey e Art Taylor.
