L’etichetta AVID presenta un nuovo volume della sua serie Four Classic Album dedicato a Lightnin’ Hopkins. Questo doppio cd riunisce quattro album completi di grafiche e note di copertina originali: “Lightnin’ And The Blues”; “Country Blues”; “Lightnin’ In New York” e “Mojo Hand”. Nato in Texas nel 1912, Sam Lightnin’ Hopkins ha iniziato il suo percorso musicale all’età di 8 anni quando ha incontrato il leggendario e misterioso bluesman Blind Lemon Jefferson in una chiesa locale. Da lì è iniziato una sorta di tirocinio informale con Hopkins che accompagnava Jefferson a molti dei suoi impegni musicali. Da adolescente ha iniziato a lavorare con Texas Alexander con cui ha viaggiato e lavorato fino a essere stato scoperto nel 1946. Hopkins è diventato poi il bluesman più registrato nella storia ed è stato votato dalla rivista Rolling Stone come il 71 ° più grande chitarrista di tutti i tempi.
