Dopo che Ella Fitzgerald ebbe sciolto la sua orchestra (l’ex gruppo di Chick Webb) nel 1941 fu libera di registrare per la Decca in una varietà di contesti musicali. Questo doppio cd presenta una rara collezione di sessioni registrate da Ella per Decca tra il 1944 e 1954, alcuni delle quali sono state incluse nell’album “Lullabies of Birdland” (Decca DL-8149). Tutti i brani vedono Ella come cantante principale supportata da varie orchestre e gruppi guidati da Sy Oliver, Gordon Jenkins, Bob Haggart e Sonny Burke.
