Il leggendario bluesman Elmore James è stato forse il chitarrista più influente del dopoguerra ed è considerato un pioniere del blues-rock. James iniziò la sua carriera nel 1939, ma le sue registrazioni migliori risalgono gli anni Cinquanta e Sessanta e furono realizzate per diverse etichette come Flair, Tromba, Capo, Chess e Fire Records.
