Questo cd presenta l’album “Bird and Diz” (Verve MGV-8006): una sessione in quintetto che ha rappresentato l’ultima registrazione in studio di Charlie Parker e Dizzy Gillespie. Questa sessione è stata anche l’unico incontro in studio di Parker con il grande Thelonious Monk. Altre due sessioni di quintetto registrate da Bird per la Verve nello stesso periodo, una delle quali con Miles Davis alla tromba, sono state aggiunte come bonus.
